On 17 June 2024, the Government promulgated Decree No. 65/2024/ND-CP on deferral for paying special consumption tax (“SCT") applying to domestically produced and assembled cars (“Decree 65”). This Decree 65 shall take effect from 17 June 2024 until the end of 31 December 2024.

The deferral period is calculated from the due date of paying SCT according to the regulations on tax administration until the end of 20 November 2024. Specifically, the SCT arising from the tax periods of May, June, July, August, and September of 2024 are deferred until the end of 20 November 2024.

Enterprises qualified for the deferral of tax payments under this Decree 65 must submit a prescribed written request to the direct management tax authorities for all the deferral periods alongside the SCT declarations. If the request for deferral of tax payments is not submitted with the tax filings, the tax authorities still accept the deferred payment by 20 November 2024.
